Buying a saree online in Bangladesh without regret
ভালো শাড়ি অনলাইনে কেনা যায় — শর্ত একটাই, ঠিক প্রশ্নগুলো আগে করা। ছবি, কাপড়ের নাম, রং, টাকা দেওয়ার নিয়ম আর বদলের শর্ত: এই পাঁচটা জায়গায় ঠকার সুযোগ, আর এই পাঁচটাতেই সাবধান হলে ঠকার কারণ নেই।
The photographs to ask for· কোন ছবি চাইবেন
A saree is judged by its border, its pallu and its back, and a single front-on studio shot shows none of them well. Before you pay for anything above everyday money, ask for a photograph in daylight, one of the pallu spread out, one of the border close up, and — for a handloom — one of the reverse side. A shop that has the saree in hand sends these in minutes. One that has to "check with the supplier" does not have it.
Fabric words that mislead· যে নামগুলো বিভ্রান্ত করে
"Silk" on its own can mean pure silk, half-silk, art silk (a polyester) or "silk feel". "Jamdani" can mean handloom, power-loom or print. "Katan" is sometimes written on a plain polyester. None of these is fraud if the full description says what the cloth is; the fraud is the word alone at the higher price. Ask two questions — what is the fibre, and how was it made — and expect straight answers.
Colour on a screen· স্ক্রিনে রং
Every phone shows colour differently, and shop lighting shifts a maroon toward red or a teal toward green. Ask for a photograph taken by a window in daylight, or a short video, and read the colour name in the description rather than trusting the picture alone. If the exact shade matters — a holud outfit, a matching blouse — say so, and let the shop confirm it before dispatch.

Paying the rider at the door means you never pay for a parcel that does not arrive. It does not mean you can open and try the saree before paying — the courier hands over a sealed packet and collects the money. So the protection is real, but it works together with the questions above, not instead of them. Check that the packet is sealed and addressed to you, pay, then open it straight away while the rider is still on the street if anything looks wrong.
Exchanges· বদল
A shop with a real showroom can offer a real exchange: bring or send the piece back unworn within the stated days and choose another. Read the returns page before you order, not after. Ours is short: three days, unworn, tags on, exchange for another piece at the shop or by courier.
How long it takes· কত দিনে পৌঁছায়
Inside Dhaka, usually the next day; the divisions are two to four working days by courier, and remote upazilas a day more. The delivery pages give the time and the fee for each division. Order with a margin before the day you need it, especially around the two Eids and the wedding season, when every courier in the country is full.
Talk to a person· একজন মানুষের সঙ্গে কথা বলুন
The best test of an online shop is whether a person answers. Ring the number, send a WhatsApp, ask something specific about the saree you are looking at. A shop that knows its cloth answers in a sentence; one that does not will send you a stock reply. Couriers hand over a sealed packet and collect the money; you check that it is sealed and addressed to you, pay, then open it at once. If anything is wrong, ring the shop straight away — an exchange is a phone call.
