Lungi buying guide: cotton, batik or premium
রোজ পরার জন্য সুতি চেক লুঙ্গি — ঠান্ডা, টেকসই, ধোয়া সহজ। ঈদ বা উপহারের জন্য হাতে রং করা বাটিক। উৎসব বা বিশেষ দিনে সিল্ক-মিশ্রিত প্রিমিয়াম লুঙ্গি। লম্বায় সব লুঙ্গি প্রায় একই; কোমরের মাপ নয়, দেখুন সেলাই করা (টিউব) না খোলা কাপড়।

The Pabna and Sirajganj handloom check lungi is the everyday lungi of Bangladesh for a reason: cool in the heat, softer with every wash, hard to wear out. Look for a firm, even weave and a colour that does not rub off on a white cloth.
Batik — Eid and gifts· বাটিক — ঈদ ও উপহার
Batik lungis are hand-dyed with wax-resist patterns, so no two are identical; a slight variation in the pattern is the mark of the hand, not a fault. They are the classic Eid gift for a father, an uncle or an imam. Wash the first time alone in cold water.
Premium and silk-blend — occasions· প্রিমিয়াম ও সিল্ক-মিশ্রিত — উপলক্ষে
A silk-blend or fine-count premium lungi has a soft sheen and a heavier drape for a wedding, a milad or a family event. Treat it like a silk saree: gentle wash or dry clean, dried in shade.
Size and stitching· সাইজ ও সেলাই
Almost all lungis are the same length; the choice is between a stitched tube (ready to wear) and open cloth (stitched at home to any waist). A stitched lungi fits nearly every adult because it is folded and tucked, not fastened — waist size is rarely a problem.

A hand-dyed batik or a deep-colour cotton may release colour in the first wash. Wash it alone in cold water once, and it settles.
