The Eid saree: what to wear morning, afternoon and evening
ঈদের দিনটা লম্বা আর তিন ভাগে ভাগ করা: সকালের সালাম-কোলাকুলি, দুপুরের গরম আর আত্মীয়ের বাড়ি, সন্ধ্যার দাওয়াত। একটা শাড়িতে তিন বেলা চলে না; দুটোয় চলে। আর কুরিয়ার ঈদের আগে ভরা থাকে — আগে অর্ডার করুন।
Morning· সকাল
The morning is prayer, embraces and the first visits, and it is often already warm. A cotton or half-silk in a clear, festive colour — a Tangail with a good border, a cotton Jamdani with butis — is right: light enough to move in, dressed enough for the photographs by the door. Save the zari.
Afternoon· দুপুর
By early afternoon the day is at its hottest and the saree has been on for hours. If there is a change, this is where the everyday Tangail cotton earns its place; if there is not, the morning half-silk carries through. A cotton petticoat and blouse under either make the difference between comfort and counting the hours.
Evening· সন্ধ্যা
The evening invitation is where the Katan, the silk or the organza comes out: lamps, a dinner, a dressed room. A Katan in a deep colour with a woven border is the surest choice; a Banarasi with real weight is for a wedding-scale evening, not an Eid dinner. Fall and pico done in advance, a matching petticoat, and the pleats set before the car.
Colour· রং
Eid has no rule the way a biye has red; it has a mood, and the mood is fresh. Pastels, whites with a coloured border, mint, peach, sky, lilac for the day; jewel tones — emerald, wine, sapphire — for the evening. Two sarees that share a colour family let the blouse do double duty.
Order early· আগে অর্ডার করুন
In the last ten days before Eid every courier in the country runs full and a day or two is added to every delivery, and tailors are booked out for falls and blouses. Order two to three weeks ahead, wash the cotton, get the fall in, and the last week is for everything else.

A half-silk in a festive colour can: light enough for morning, dressed enough for a family evening. For an invitation out, a second, richer saree is worth it.
ঈদের আগে কত দিনে ডেলিভারি হয়? · How long is delivery before Eid?
Longer than usual — courier volumes double. Order two to three weeks ahead; inside Dhaka a week is usually enough, outside it is not.
ঈদে জরির শাড়ি মানায়? · Is zari right for Eid?
In the evening, yes, in moderation — a Katan with a zari border. A full Banarasi is wedding-scale and looks it at a dinner.
