Dhakai Jamdani is Bangladesh's most celebrated weave — fine cotton or muslin with motifs woven in by hand using a supplementary weft, recognised by UNESCO and protected as a Geographical Indication. Our Jamdanis come from weaving families around Rupganj and Sonargaon in Narayanganj. A single saree can take from a few weeks to several months on the loom, which is why prices span such a wide range: motif density, thread count and whether the base is cotton, half-silk or muslin all move the price.
